Assertiveness Training
Do you have trouble communicating your needs and getting what you want in relationships, at work, at home, with friends and family?

Do people tell you, "you need to be more assertive"?

These assertiveness training sessions will cover skills to assist you in:

Identifying what you want
-
Asking for it effectively
-
Saying “no,” or setting a boundary
How does it work?
These sessions are designed to be stand alone or incorporated into your treatment plan. Utilizing DBT skills for Interpersonal Effectiveness, these Assertiveness training sessions are separated into three 50 minute sessions.

Session 1 will focus on:

Identifying what you want
-
Asking for it effectively
-
Saying “no,” or setting a boundary

Session 2 will focus on:
-
Gain insight into the role your actions play in the health of your relationships

Maintain the relationships that matter to you the most

Learn how to validate others, even when you disagree with them.
​
Session 3 will focus on:

Improve confidence in assertiveness skills
-
Improve and maintain your self respect, so that interactions leave you feeling good about yourself.
​
These sessions build upon each other, so it is recommend to attend all three, 1 per week. If you are a new client, additional sessions will be recommended in order to provide feedback on skill practice as well as to build rapport prior to jumping into the skills.
Handouts and worksheets will be provided to practice skills between sessions.
